Explore BTC1What is BTC1?
The Bitcoin Genesis 1 project page presents BTC1 as a cryptocurrency within the Bitcoin Ecosystem. It describes reserve, governance, and utility ambitions, and lists proof of work and an annual supply figure. Those are the project's descriptions, not independently verified outcomes.
The name can be confusing. BTC1 is not the bitcoin asset (BTC), and it is not the Bitcoin Core software project. Similar naming does not establish shared security, transaction history, or endorsement.
Three names, different things.
Bitcoin · BTC
The asset native to the Bitcoin network. The network's rules and transaction history are distinct from another project using a Bitcoin-related name.
Bitcoin Core
Open-source software used to validate Bitcoin blocks and transactions. It is not a separate coin.
Bitcoin Genesis 1 · BTC1
A separate cryptocurrency project described in Bitcoin Ecosystem materials. Its technical and economic claims need their own evidence.
What should you verify?
A project page is a starting point. Current, independently checkable records matter more than a name or a promise.
- Network status: Is there a working network, public explorer, and software you can inspect?
- Supply and distribution: Do published rules match observable issuance and allocations?
- Governance and reserves: Who controls changes and custody, and where are supporting records?
- Risks: What are the technical, market, liquidity, and custody risks? A project description is not a guarantee.
